Sandy Sidhu stars as Nazneen Khan in the new original medical drama series Nurses. Sidhu’s character Nazneen left India to start a new life and her first job (ever) is as a nurse in Canada. She comes from a very wealthy family.

Through the course of the show, you discover Naz is in a free fall of rediscovering who she is outside of the familiar patterns of home.

She also stars as Meena Roy alongside Jim Sturgess in the new mystery drama series Home Before Dark on Apple TV+ about a young girl who moves from Brooklyn to the small lakeside town her father left behind.

The fast-rising star was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, and found her passion for performing at the young age of 14, entering acting through plays, including a production of West Side Story.

After landing several leading roles in other theatrical shows, Sidhu trained at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in Los Angeles.

After landing a role as a recurring guest star on SGU Stargate Universe and prominent roles in major television series, her big break came when she was cast as Priya on the awardwinning hit television series Grey’s Anatomy, playing the love interest of Jackson Avery portrayed by Jesse Williams.

To-date, Sidhu has amassed a significant body of work in several film and television productions.

Outside of acting, her other passions include painting, hiking, and reading. She is also a big believer in self-love and is passionate about inspiring others to live their most authentic lives.

Understanding the importance of philanthropy, Sidhu supports causes close to her heart which include the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the BC Cancer Society and the BC Children’s Hospital.

Name: Sandy Sidhu. I’m the first-born in my family and my parents had just immigrated to Canada from India when they heard the name Sandy and fell in love with it. My mom particularly loved the sound of it, and so Sandy became my name! When I google it, Sandy means protector of mankind!

Currently: I’m so proud to promote my first series regular role on Global TV’s ensemble medical drama Nurses. It’s a coming- of-age series following five rookie nurses, fresh out of school, working the front lines of a busy downtown Toronto hospital, dedicating their lives to helping others, while also struggling really to help themselves. I play Nazneen Khan who is a whip-smart daughter from a wealthy family in India who moved to Canada to reinvent herself and is now starting her first job ever.

Favourite colour: Red.

Favourite designer:  My closet is a mix. It’s filled with cheap affordable pieces or designer brands. I don’t really care. Anything with a unique and flattering cut and style to my taste is a win. Just be yourself, express yourself, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Favourite Bollywood star:  Shah Rukh Khan. I have seen Kal Ho Naa Ho multiple times. And who doesn’t know Baazigar.

Favourite Hollywood star:  Meryl Streep. She’s a living legend.

Favourite movie: Jurassic Park.

Favourite singer: I don’t really have a favourite singer. Currently my favourite playlist is the Hip Hop Favourites rack on Spotify.

Favourite song:  Freddy Mercury’s Bohemian Rhapsody or Etta James’ At Last.

Favourite TV show: I really love the cartoon Avatar. Yes, I said it.

Favourite ice-cream flavour: Lemon Sorbet.

Favourite cuisine: Any mouth-watering dish with a lot of vegetables. So I really love Indian because our vegetarian dishes are amazing.

Favourite sports: Boxing.

Favourite sportsperson: The Sedin twins when they were still with the Vancouver Canucks were famously kind in our city and  I am a fan of theirs.

Favourite book: Man’s Search for Meaning by Victor Frankl. It’s a life-changing book.

Favourite activities: Time with family and friends. Or a good walk or hike.

I hang out: At home.

I’m freaked out by: Spiders.

I need: My health.

I want to be: A good person.

My role models:  My parents. They are my heroes. They worked so hard to provide for us and I wouldn’t be where I am today without their love. I’m very lucky.

Tips to save the planet: Get behind initiatives that you believe in and take action.

Performing in Nurses is: The kind of job you wait your whole career for. I mean that. Nurses is a dream job that came true and I’m still pinching myself. When I learned that Global approved season two before our first season premiered, I sobbed. I’ve never loved playing a role as much as I have Naz. I really hope audiences enjoy the show as much as we do.

In a perfect world: Everyone would feel unconditionally loved and supported.
