MEET PRIYANA
LITTLE THOUGHTS ON THE BIG ISSUES OF LIFE
Priyana’s songwriting is inspired by the world around her. Her desire is to create a space for people to feel safe and heard through her music. She instinctively captures the emotions that reflect today’s challenges through social media, and little thoughts and phrases she comes across. The multi-instrumentalist is an advocate for mental health. She cares deeply for the LGBTQ+ community, anti-racism, equity and women’s rights. She is a two-time International Songwriting Competition semi-finalist and finalist award winner in the pop category of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest.
Name: Priyana. My artiste name is priyana with a lower case ‘p’, but I was named Priyana by my aunt when my parents were trying to come up with something unique. They were thinking about names like Priyanka and Ariana, and my aunt said, “How about Priyana?” They loved it and so do I!
Currently: I released my debut album Little Thoughts on my 18th birthday! I’d been working on it for the past year while I was completing grade 12. I regularly perform for various organizations and I’m an advocate for mental health and the LGBTQ+ community. I am now in the Independent Songwriting and Performance program at Seneca College.
