BOLLYWED: BACK WITH A BANG

Bollywed introduces audiences in Canada to the charismatic Singh family who have run their bridal shop, Chandan Fashion, in Toronto’s Little India for nearly 40 years.

CBC has renewed Bollywed for a second season.

Produced by HeartHat Entertainment and launched in January 2023 on CBC and CBC Gem, the heartwarming series introduced audiences in Canada to the charismatic Singh family who have run their bridal shop, Chandan Fashion, in Toronto’s Little India for nearly 40 years.

Bollywed shines a fascinating light on the world of South Asian culture and fashion – and offers an authentic glimpse into an intergenerationally-run business led by father Kuki Singh, his wife Sarab, their two children Chandan and Chandni, and daughter-in-law Roop.

“By telling the story of the charming Singh family, Bollywed reflects the story of so many Canadians who immigrated to Canada to build new lives and start their own businesses,” said Jennifer Dettman, executive director, Unscripted Content, CBC. “The series has won over fans from all backgrounds and communities across Canada and beyond, and we are thrilled to work with HeartHat Entertainment and the Singh family to offer audiences another season.”

Bollywed has been a labour of love,” said HeartHat Entertainment founder Carolyn Meland.

“It’s been a dream come true to showcase South Asian culture in such a fun and authentic way,” said Gurjeet Mann, executive producer and director of photography at HeartHat Entertainment.

“We started this journey with the producers back in 2015 and always knew that Bollywed would find the right home, and we are so thrilled that CBC has given us this platform to tell our story,” said Chandan Singh, lead designer at Chandan Fashion.
