Name: Faaria Naz. My parents named me Faaria, which is an Arabic name for girls meaning “tall” and/or “beautiful”.
Currently: I showcased my booklet Dear Younger Self through Brampton Library recently. Dear Younger Self is a compilation of written reflections on the beautiful journey of adolescence, which are accompanied by a few simple drawings. I hope to continue to write many more booklets exhibiting the different stages of life and write poetry on everyday situations which the media does not cover.
Favourite colour: Aqua green.
Favourite designers: Calvin Klein and Kate Spade.
Favourite Bollywood star: Don’t really have one! They’re all talented in their own ways.
Favourite Hollywood star: Julia Roberts.
Favourite movie: A Dog’s Purpose.
Favourite singer: Khalid.
Favourite song: Too hard to just pick one!
Favourite TV show: Anne With An E.
Favourite ice cream flavour: Anything chocolate and red velvet oreo ice cream!
Favourite cuisine: Hakka.
Favourite restaurant: Grillin Hut. The biryani is delicious!
Favourite sports: Soccer, volleyball and badminton.
Favourite sportsperson: Cristiano Ronaldo.
Favourite book: A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khalid Hosseini, one of the first books to make me cry.
Favourite activities: Painting, baking, and reading.
I hang out: With friends and goof around. Laughter is the cure for everything.
I’m freaked out by: The uncertainty of life.
I need: Days dedicated to self-care and pampering.
I want to be: All the things this life will allow me to be.
My role models: Don’t exist. I believe striving for a positive mindset and possessing strong morals is key.
Tips to save the planet: Reuse. Reduce. Recycle.
In a perfect world: There would be no such thing as “social privilege”.
