TAKE A BOW, PRIYANA
Singer-songwriter Priyana released her debut album Little Thoughts on her 18th birthday. Her latest single All or Nothing is out now.
Priyana wrote the first song, Forever is a long time, from her album in the midst of COVID for a high school project. The song represented a time when she felt helpless, trapped, and the days seemed to last forever.
Little Thoughts has a vast range of genres from indie-pop to rock. Priyana’s songwriting is inspired by the world around her.
Her desire is to create a space for people to feel safe and heard through her music. She instinctively captures the emotions that reflect today’s challenges through social media, and little thoughts and phrases she comes across.
Priyana worked in collaboration with her producer Matt Riches on nine of the eleven songs from the album.
A multi-instrumentalist, Priyana was born and raised in Toronto. She is proud to be half South Asian and an advocate for mental health. She cares deeply for the LGBTQ+ community, anti-racism, equity and women’s rights.
As a passionate artist and musician, Priyana has been playing piano and singing since the ages of three and eight, respectively. She is self-taught on the guitar and ukulele and started intuitively songwriting at the age of 12.
She is a two-time International Songwriting Competition Semi-Finalist and Finalist award winner in the pop category of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Drawing inspiration from Billie Eilish, Phoebe Bridgers, and Conan Gray, Priyana attributes her unique writing style to both her intuitive ability and her time spent listening to these artists.
Often embraced for her ethereal like energy, Priyana has been honoured to connect heart to heart with live audiences in Canada, with invitations to perform at the Toronto Diversity Festival, High Notes Avante’s Concert of Hope, several schools, corporate functions, and two Kids Help Phone fundraisers in front of an audience of over 5000 guests.
Priyana has amassed a global following of loyal supporters on social media platforms where she consistently spreads her magic through music.
