INVENTOR-ENTREPRENEUR TAKES AIM AT VIRUSES AND PATHOGENS

Inventor-entrepreneur Kacee Vasudeva and his wife Sudarshan (Susan).

The number of hospitalizations for respiratory illnesses including RSV, influenza and pneumonia are on the rise.

The threat of COVID still looms large. Parents are desperate for pain and fever medications for their children.

Among all these grim stories, a ray of hope.

Maxtech Consumer Products, with founder Kacee Vasudeva at the helm, announced that it is ready to manufacture products that are, in effect, a three-pronged defence against the viruses and pathogens that are causing so much distress.

The Maxtech Viral Guard is an air cleaning unit that removes dust particles and pathogens that can cause COVID or the flu.

A clear facial viral guard with special filters that deactivate pathogens coming through it.

And a dry steam unit that cleans and decontaminates surfaces without harsh chemicals and gases.

“The three together are a total solution,” says the inventor and entrepreneur, who has designed everything from automotive products, tools and power tool accessories to mosquito and bed bug prevention.

With these in place, there’d be no need for lockdowns, he says. “Schools, universities, offices, they could all stay open. Restaurants and other businesses won’t have to shut shop.”

Like much of the rest of his range of products, these products, too – which he’s about to receive the patents for – are also environment-friendly.

Comparing the cost to environment of just one, for instance, the Maxtech facial viral guard results in significantly less waste directed to landfills.

Here’s how the math works:

Weight of each set of filters is approximately 5 grams (0.18 ounces). For 1.5 million users (or about 10 per cent of Ontario’s population), total landfill waste: 15 MT/ month.

Cost to landfill: $1,500/ month ($100/ MT).

As against traditional respirators, which weigh approximately 12 grams.

For 1.5 million users, the total landfill waste: 540 MT/ month

Cost to landfill: $54,000/ month.

“I come up with ideas for a product, looking at the current needs of the country and the world,” says Vasudeva, who plans on donating a portion of the proceeds to charity.
