SHANKAR-EHSAN-LOY LIVE IN CONCERT

Kal Ho Naa Ho: Bollywood’s star composers Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy will be in Toronto’s Meridian Hall on July 20.

TO Live and Small World Music present Bollywood supergroup Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy at Meridian Hall: Kal Ho Naa Ho

Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, arguably India’s most successful and popular musical trio, became a nationwide sensation after they composed the music for the 2001 movie Dil Chahta Hai.

The music received widespread critical acclaim and is now considered a milestone in the history of Bollywood film music. Together they have now composed music for over 75 Bollywood films across five languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, and English.

Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani, and Loy Mendonsa.

Indian singer and composer Shankar Mahadevan won a Grammy this year along with his band Shakti in the best global music album category for This Moment.

Composing for commercials and films helped guitarist Ehsaan Noorani experiment with many different styles of music – rock, country, electronic, and metal – but his heart continues to lie with the blues (he still performs with his current band, Apostrophe).

Before becoming a music composer, Loy Mendonsa played piano and keyboards for famous Indian music composers such as A. R. Rahman and Nadeem-Shravan.

Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy are now among the most critically acclaimed Indian musicians and the trio have won many prestigious awards, including National Film awards, Filmfare awards, and International Indian Film Academy awards. In addition to Dil Chahta Hai (2001), they are best known for their musical compositions for the films Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006), My Name Is Khan (2010), Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011), Dil Dhadakne Do (2015), and The Archies (2023), among many others.

Tickets: $50-$150.
