NEW COMMUNITY GALLERY OF ABIOLA IDOWU’S PAINTINGS AT BRAMPTON LIBRARY
Brampton Library is pleased to feature local artist Abiola Idowu in its first community gallery since the pandemic.
Eleven of Idowu’s original paintings are now on display on the main floor of Chinguacousy Branch Library. Each of the featured mixed medium pieces make up what the artist refers to as “Family”. These beautiful works may be viewed for free anytime during Library hours.
Idowu is a Nigerian-born visual artist based in Brampton, known for colorful abstract works influenced by Yoruba culture. He studied at the Zaria Art School, which is celebrated for its unique, vibrant figurative artwork. Scholars recognize his contributions to the school and the development of its unique style. Abiola paints every day and it is his belief that he is still developing as an artist with each piece bringing joy and peace. It is one of his greatest pleasures to connect people with a painting which reflects their own peaceful joy back at them. Less than a year ago, the Librtary unveiled his public art sculpture The Reading Girl at Springdale Branch Library during My Brampton Day.
