A SLEEPING BEAUTY ROUTINE

The benefits of a good night’s sleep are many, ranging from mental health and heart health to yes, good skin! But I happen to be one of those light sleepers. The slightest sound, a sliver of light creeping in through the curtains, anything and everything can disturb my sleep. And the effects are visible on my face even before I reach for my first cup of coffee.

If I don’t have restful sleep, my daughter greets me in the morning with, “Mom, did you have a rough night?”

I have tried sleep masks and playing soundscapes – white noise and brown noise that I didn’t even know existed until my daughter introduced me to those. They work for a while, until they don’t.

It took a little getting used to and involved some teasing from my kids about “hi-tech mom”, but I have been sleeping so much better.

It’s early days yet, but my daughter hasn’t enquired about how my night was for a few days. And that’s a great sign!
