BRAMPTON LIBRARY CELEBRATES NATIONAL YOUTH WEEK
May 1-7: Brampton Library is recognizing and celebrating youth in the community. Several events are planned during the National Youth Week.
Self-reflection booklet: A virtual showcase of a booklet prepared by a student, Faaria Naz, from the Ontario College of Art and Design, who was previously a Brampton Library Teen Volunteer. The booklet, Dear Younger Self is a compilation of reflections on the beautiful journey of adolescence.
Youth debate: Tuesday, May 4, 2021, 6:00 to 7:30 pm.Virtual youth debate on Rural vs Urban Sustainability. We are living through a climate emergency. Global warming and climate change threaten to permanently alter the landscape and living conditions of our planet. As we approach the point of no return, we must learn to live more sustainable and green lives. While early environmental works may have encouraged us to live in rural areas and farmlands, more recent studies have shown how population density and vertical urbanization can play a key role in combating climate change. Is the countryside truly more green? Or, will the city prevail? This program is in partnership with the Community Climate Council and Brampton Library Youth Volunteers. Register here.
The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of, and educate the public about climate change while also instilling leadership and presentation skills in Brampton youth.
