HINDI SHORTS 2020
5 SHORT PLAYS, LIVE STREAMED EVERY FRIDAY
Sawitri Theatre Group is delighted to present the COVID-delayed, but long-awaited, Canadian premier of Hindi Shorts 2020.
Five short plays – Us Dopahar Ki Baat (That One Afternoon); Amma (Mother); The Monk; That Summer Holiday, written by Uday Krishna and My Dear Arvind by Tanuj Khosla, all in Hindi.
Every Friday from November 6 to December 4.
“Human relationships are strange threads that bind us, or break us; bring us close, or isolate us. In these times of social isolation due to COVID, we re-discover the importance of each of these relationships. Some heal, some help, and some tear asunder. Each play is a celebration, an introspection, a regret and a discovery,” said Shruti Shah, the artistic co-director of Sawitri.
The creative team of Hindi Shorts 2020 consists of a team of directors, Shruti Shah, along with Raina Desai, Gunja Chakraborty and Ashish Varma. Lighting design is by Sid Sawant, sound design by Deepak Chakravarty. The production consists of 16 actors, some of whom take on multiple roles. Many of these talented emerging actors are new generation and newcomers to Canada.
Sawitri, founded in January 2003, is an award-winning, incorporated not-for-profit organization under the artistic leadership of Jasmine Sawant and Shruti Shah, presenting original, challenging and exciting works featuring established professionals as well as emerging artists.
Streaming from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm, main presentation at 9:00 pm EST.
