NEW PARKS AND A CRICKET PITCH IN BRAMPTON
The City of Brampton unveiled the renaming of two parks recently.
Troyers Park which offers a play structure, shade shelter and a multi-use court for various outdoor activities, was renamed Shri Bhagavad Gita Park.
Alloa Green Park was renamed Ahmadiyya Park to commemorate the Muslim community. Mayor Pat-rick Brown, Lal Khan Malik (National President of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Canada), councillors and community members were in attendance. This park is home to a playground structure, shade shelter, a designated skating area and surrounded by luscious greenery.
The City also unveiled Great Gulf Cricket Pitch at Teramoto Park.
“The City of Brampton is a leader in the GTA in supporting cricket and we are proud of this partnership with Great Gulf,” said mayor Brown.
“Partnerships such as these help to maintain and update recreational spaces in our community. Great Gulf has been a wonderful partner and we appreciate their continued investment in the City of Brampton.”
The funding received through the naming rights will cover the costs of maintenance operations for the cricket pitch. The pitch underwent significant renovations in 2019 which included lighting, digital score clock specific to the sport of cricket and all-new cricket screens.
Brampton is currently home to 18 cricket pitches, two of which are lit and allow for nighttime play. Cricket is a hugely popular sport within Brampton and demand for playing time continues to grow.
