A FRESH TAKE ON DESI DATING

In a move that celebrates love, culture, and inclusivity, Popshift announced the launch of its web series, Desi Me Dating season 3 recently.

This season continues from where season 2 left off and introduces new daters as they learn about their date from behind a screen and then participate in fun activities like pasta making, cocktail tasting, and more.

This show is billed as one that is set to redefine the norms of dating and relationships within the South Asian community.

Since inception, there have been no gimmicks or overly edited scenes, just two people learning about each other, sharing an experience, and exploring what could be.

The reality is that dating is difficult. It’s hard to create organic connections in this in this day and age, in a fairly digital world. Not only are we constantly bombarded by friends and family members trying to play matchmaker, the continuous rotation of dating apps are no help and only send us into further angst as we go on this quest for love.

PopShift’s Desi Me Dating was born out of the frustration that many popular dating shows on OTT platforms leave out the real and raw struggles associated with dating in the South Asian world. Often in desi culture, dating is seen as a means to marriage rather than the critical role it plays in building connections. The crux of the show treads on the fine line of awkward first-date tension and building deep interpersonal connections.

It invites participants from all walks of life, embracing the rich diversity of desi culture. With a focus on fostering genuine connections, the series takes the concept of dating to a whole new level by removing visual judgments, encouraging participants to explore the depths of personality and emotion to create a connection before they go off to bond over fun and unique dating activities.

Dates will have to face the challenging and awkward questions and then ask themselves whether there should be a second date.
