South Asian Health Alliance (SAHA) is holding its South Asian Youth Festival to raise awareness about and support youth mental health and well-being.

The event will consist of a wellness walk, a health fair, and an education expo. There will be key speakers and entertainment, as well as numerous workshops, seminars, information sharing activities and interactive booths.

“Our goal is to spread awareness and fundraise to develop culturally and linguistically appropriate programming for South Asian students and their families,” said Neethan Shan, CEO, South Asian Health Alliance. “Specifically, we hope to start by creating programming for the following five language/community groups: Bangla, Gujarati, Punjabi, Tamil and Urdu. With your support, we are aiming to raise $25,000 ($5,000 per group) to advance this much-needed initiative.

“We invite community members from across the GTA to join us for a day devoted to spreading awareness, building connections and walking for  a  great cause!”

SAHA is dedicated to improving the health and well being of South Asian communities in Ontario through policy research, advocacy and education.

Its mission is to promote health equity and eliminate health disparities by advancing evidence-based solutions that address the unique health needs of South Asians in Ontario.

“Our vision is to create an Ontario where South Asian communities have equitable access to culturally sensitive and effective health services and programs,” says Shan. “We envision a society where South Asians can lead healthy and fulfilling lives, free from systemic barriers that limit their ability to access high-quality healthcare. We strive to be a leading voice for health equity and policy change, inspiring others to join us in our efforts to build a healthier and more just society for all.”
