Soupalicious! Get ready to “Sip, Slurp and Savour” at a free and soup-er, family-friendly outdoor event as Duke Heights BIA serves up a community harvest celebration on Sunday, September 17.

The bounty of this year’s harvests will be celebrated from noon to 3 pm at the north-west parking lot of the Champagne Centre (1107 Finch Avenue West, by Finch Ave., west of Champagne Drive, Toronto).

Bring your own spoon and an appetite for this free community harvest party. Soup, fresh corn, and other tasty treats along with live music, face painting, and an arts-and-crafts area for children will all be part of this event. And for the first one hundred families, there’ll also be a free pumpkin to take home.

“Duke Heights BIA is delighted to be part of Soupalicious, a celebration of the harvest and community,” said Lia Martelluzzi, Executive Director of Duke Heights BIA. “We welcome all the families from our neighbouring communities to join us for this free, zero-waste community event that aims at promoting sustainable living.”

Plant-Grow-Share a Row encourages gardeners to plant an extra row of veggies to donate to their local food bank, helping provide fresh, locally-grown produce to folks-in-need. Soupalicious was created as the program’s harvest celebration, helping local groups raise awareness and support for their food-growing and -sharing programs. Both programs are supported by The Compost Council of Canada, the national non-profit organization dedicated to advancing organics recycling and the return of organic matter back to our soils for ongoing health and vitality.
