WHAT’S ON AT BRAMPTON LIBRARY
Chinguacousy in the Park! Brampton Library officially reopened its Chinguacousy branch in its new location, the Donald M. Gordon Chinguacousy Park Ski Chalet, on August 22 at 10 am, just three weeks after closing this branch in the Civic Centre to make way for Toronto Metropolitan University’s new School of Medicine.
The new address is 9050 Bramalea Road, in the south-west corner of Central Park Drive and Bramalea Road. Hours of operation are 10 am-9 pm Monday through Thursday and 10 am-6 pm Friday through Sunday.
The Ski Chalet was chosen because of its proximity to the former location in the Bramalea neighbourhood. It is modern and airy and will offer most of the same services on a smaller scale, including a selection of books and other materials, computer access, study space, various programs, and makerspace services. The Library is working effectively with the City of Brampton to find a future permanent home to serve this community.
“We are thrilled to be able to serve the community for the coming period from our new location in Chinguacousy Park,” said Todd Kyle, Chief Executive Officer, Brampton Library. “We invite you to come connect with literacy, learning, and your community!”
Memory care kits are now available in Library of Things. Brampton Library announced the launch of memory care kits for those experiencing dementia and early, mid, or late-stage memory loss.
Each kit contains a variety of items that exercise the brain and encourage social connection, including puzzles, games, conversation cards, books, sensory activities, and more. Anyone with a valid Brampton Library card can now borrow a free memory care kit.
Memory care kits are the latest addition to Brampton Library’s Library of Things, complementing its extensive range of resources, including books, and online databases, to help individuals and their caregivers access the information and support they need.
Read the FAQs and find out about our other dementia care resources available online and in our branches. Together we are inspiring connections and building an inclusive community for all.
