Author Reema Patel to Discuss New Novel on Social Justice
A virtual discussion with author Reema Patel about their novel Such Big Dreams. Reema will be available to answer questions and provide insights into the themes explored in their work, which focuses on issues related to social justice.
“Lasting social change requires a collective move beyond self-centeredness,” Patel says. “A book plants seeds of empathy in readers and communities by allowing us to bond with characters whose pain is different from our own. Storytelling is essential to dismantling systems of oppression.”
Such Big Dreams is a story about a perceptive street child working for a human rights office in Mumbai who earns a chance at redemption and life on her own terms. Brampton Library’s IDEA Strategy aims to encourage and support ongoing discussions about social justice and help create a more diverse and inclusive community.
The event will be held online on Tuesday, February 21, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
